When I was first diagnosed with arthritis, the pain was so bad I could barely hold a dish towel, let alone cook for myself. I was hospitalized for a few weeks and eventually the
doctors had to give me braces for my limbs. During my physical therapy at Grady Hospital I was blessed enough to be assigned a nurse. And that nurse was caring enough to refer
me to Meals On Wheels Atlanta. I’m almost 76 years old, and every year it gets a little bit harder for me to do for myself. My only child lives in Nashville, Tennessee, and although
I could call neighbors if there was an emergency, I don’t really know if they would come. MOWA drivers provide me with both the nutritious meals I need and a group of people who
will notice if I am not there to greet them.
