Meals on Wheels Atlanta - SCS delivers nutritious meals to homebound seniors. Senior Citizen Services was the first, and remains one of the largest providers of home-delivered meals in Atlanta. The Meals on Wheels Atlanta program provides 250 - 300 nutritious meals DAILY to seniors unable to cook for themselves. HOMES - SCS helps seniors repair and maintain their home when they can't do it for themselves. Senior Citizen Services handles maintenance and repairs on the homes of our senior clients that allow the individual to remain independently in their own homes. The HOMES program completes nearly 200 projects each year for seniors in Atlanta. Neighborhood Senior Centers - SCS operates local community senior centers where seniors can thrive. Senior Citizen Services manages eight centers that offer social, health and wellness and education opportunities for seniors throughout Fulton county. Neighborhood Senior Centers have approximately 700 seniors who are registered for the diverse programs offered at each center. Adult Day Care - SCS offers an oasis for nurturing and support for seniors with memory challenges. Senior Citizen Services provides a nurturing and stimulating environment that assists in delaying the effects of Alzheimer's and dementia. The Vivian T. Minor Adult Day Care Center has approximately 35 registered seniors who (along with their families) depend on the difference we make in their daily lives. CareShare - SCS matches volunteers to seniors to help them lead their everyday lives. Senior Citizen Services answers the variety of non-medical help and support of our senior clients with this exclusive SCS program. CareShare matches close to 200 seniors every year with caring volunteers dedicated to the SCS mission. SCS makes special gatherings or meetings easier by making our facilities available - SCS Event Facilities. (To ask about our facilities, click here for Senior Center Contacts) Senior Citizen Services has a variety of "spaces" available for those in the community who may have a need for special gatherings, meetings or events. The SCS classrooms, senior centers, kitchen, and meeting spaces have been used for everything from community meetings, to church socials, to corporate focus group staging areas.
